Imlil and Toubkal valley day trip with Berber lunch

Duration: 9 h Start: 8.30 am start Option: Small group
High Atlas mountain village in the Imlil valley

Imlil is the base camp for Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak. At 1,740 metres the village breathes mountain air: terraced orchards, streams, mules on the paths and snow on the peaks much of the year.

The trip is built around gentle walking: a loop through the valley from village to village, with a Berber lunch on a terrace facing the summits. It runs as a small group, at an easy pace.

Frequently asked questions

What walking level is needed?

The loop takes about two hours with moderate climbs. Anyone who walks regularly will manage comfortably.

Can you see the summit of Toubkal?

You can see it from the valley in clear weather. Climbing it is a two-day undertaking with mountain guides — not the purpose of this trip.

Is it cold?

Always cooler than Marrakech — count on five to ten degrees less. A fleece is useful even in summer.
